Q: How do I join?

A: You don't need to sign up or register with anyone ahead of time. The steps to participate are as follows.

If you're an artist: 1) Hide your art in Kitchener, Waterloo or Cambridge. 2) Take a picture or video showing the piece and the hiding spot. 3) Post the picture to Instagram with the hashtag #arthuntWR. 4) Leave a clue in the desciption (optional).

If you're an art hunter: 1) Follow the hashtag #arthuntWR on Instagram to see new posts from artists. 2) Follow the clues from the picture or video and desciption. 3) Find your awesome new piece of art. 4) Leave a note on the original Instagram post so other hunters know the piece has been claimed.

Q: What time is the scavenger hunt?

A: Artists will be posting their pictures, videos and clues at different times throughout the day.

Q: What if someone who is not part of the hunt finds my art?

A: Leaving a little note with your art explaining the hunt and how to participate is a good idea. Let the finder know that they should comment on the original post to let other hunters know it has been found.

Q: Can I use [blank] medium?

A: As long as your art is tangible and the finder can take it home, we would love for you to add your art to the scavenger hunt! Please also remember that this is a family-friendly event when choosing a subject.

Q: What if I don't have an Instagram account?

A: You can e-mail your picture to jessjungton@gmail.com and the picture will be shared from the @arthuntWR Instagram account. Please note that the account is not monitored 24/7 and giving us some notice ahead of time will ensure that your art is posted promtly.

Q: What if my Instagram account is private?

A: Similar to the answer above, you can send us your image either through e-mail or through an Instagram direct post. You can also post your image to your Instagram account, inlude our @arthuntwr handle and we will also the post the image with your description.

Q: Will the @arthuntWR Instagram share my photo?

A: We would love to. Tag us or write @arthuntWR in a comment on the post and we will share your photo. Depending on the time and the amount of submitions, there may be a delay in posting your picture to the account.

Q: Can I use Twitter?

A: Sure, but the main conversation will be happening on Instagram.

Q: Is there a grand prize?

A: NO. Each art piece is it's own prize. There is no grand prize for whoever finds the most art.

Q: What if my art isn't found?

A: Sounds like you picked a good hiding place. As sunset approaches, leave more clues in the desciption of the Instagram picture or video. If no one has found your art by the time the sun goes down, we suggest picking it up and hiding it again at a different time.
